In November 2005, Coaches of Canada became an autonomous organization. Formerly, Coaches of Canada was an executive committee of the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) and was known as the Canadian Professional Coaches Association (CPCA).
Coaches of Canada separated from the CAC in order to better represent Canada's professional coaches. The purpose of Coaches of Canada is to advance the profession of coaching and to advance the contribution coaches make to individuals, teams, communities, and society.
Although independent, Coaches of Canada maintains an active partnership with the CAC, Canada's coach education body.
