Head Coach, Women's Team

Elaine Dagg-Jackson has coached the Kelley Law team (gold, 2000 World Championships; gold, 2000 Canadian Championships; silver, 2001 Canadian Championships). She was the head coach of the Korean national curling teams from 2000 to 2003 and coached the women’s team to their first World Championship qualification in 2002 and the men’s team to their first World Championship qualification in 2003. Elaine was the head coach of the Japanese national and Olympic curling teams from 1994 to 2000. Her personal motto is “No Stone Unturned”, and she believes that the difference is in the details. Elaine has been a Level 4 Certified Coach since 1997 and full-time professional Coach since 1994.

Marcel Lacroix is an NCI Level 4 graduate (1996) and is currently studying for Level 5. He was Speed Skating Canada’s 2004 Male Coach of the Year and has been coaching long track skaters at the Calgary Olympic Oval since 1998. Marcel was the national short track coach from 1993 to 1998 and coached short track at the 1998 Olympics. Marcel is the original designer of the short track Maple Blades in 1996 and is a five-time recipient of the Wittnauer Award. Marcel graduated from Laval University with a bachelor’s degree in History (minor in Education), and he taught high school in Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec.

Daniel Lefebvre is a seven-year veteran coach from the junior national team program and currently is lead coach at the Valcartier Training Centre in Quebec City. Daniel is a Level 4 NCCP coach and is working toward completion of his Level 5 NCCP. As a junior team coach he has witnessed significant success, producing five World Youth and Junior Championship medals since 2003, including Canada’s first-ever World title for a male biathlete at the 2003 World Youth Championships in France. Daniel resides in St-Gabriel de Valcartier with his fiancée, Nina, and their two sons, Tristan and Sasha.

Neal Marshall is a certified NCCP Level 4 coach and an NCI graduate (Calgary). He received the Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence award in 2003 and 2004 and competed as a speed skater for 23 years (10-year member of the National Long Track Team (1989 to 1998)). Neal is a three-time Olympian (1992, 1994 and 1998), with his best result being seventh in the 1500m in 1994. Neal is the 1995 World Cup 1500m champion and the 1997 World Single Distances Championships 1500m bronze medallist. He is a former world record holder in 1500m (1997) and 3000m (1995). Neal has been a speed skating commentator for CBC and CTV for three years, including at the Salt Lake City Olympics.

Teresa Schlachter is a certified Level 4 coach and a recent graduate of the National Coaching Institute Calgary. She has been the general manager of Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton since 2002 and has coached at the World Championships since 2002, producing several world champions as well as bronze and silver medallists. Teresa resides in the Calgary and Canmore areas and has four children.

Xiuli Wang is a certified NCCP Level 4 long track speed skating coach and former world champion in 1500m, having competed in long track speed skating for 17 years. Xiuli was a member of the Chinese national team for nine years (1983 to 1992). She has received the Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and was named Speed Skating Canada’s Female Coach of the Year in 2005. Xiuli began coaching in 1996 and was former co-ordinator for the Oval Bronze One-on-One Long Track program. Xiuli speaks English and Mandarin.
